The United Animal Nations is a California-based non-profit organization that provides disaster services for animals. We depend solely on private donations, so compelling pictures of our work are critical to our operations. When our volunteer team went to Cedar Rapids in June, 2008 to help animals displaced by catastrophic flooding, we called on Louis Brems to capture the drama and emotion of the situation. Louis responded immediately and understood our urgent need to obtain photos quickly so we could update our supporters via e-mail and our Web site. He spent a day with our volunteers at a temporary animal shelter, capturing dozens of images of hard-working volunteers, beleaguered disaster victims, happy reunions and frightened pets. After the shoot was complete, Louis immediately e-mailed several of the best shots for our immediate use and delivered a CD of more than 60 high-quality photos. His photos are some of the best visual records we have obtained in our 20-year history of helping animal victims of disaster. Alexis Raymond Director of CommunicationsUnited Animal NationsP.O.
